Builder and owner of the Michigan Exchange. A nice meeting place for Detroit’s aristocracy including Ulysses S. Grant. Judge Conant occupied the same seat at the head of the main table for close to 30 years. He was never married and this was his primary dining spot. Judge Shubael was the brother of Dr. Harry Conant who was my 3rd great grandfather. Amazing and wonderful stuff.
