This is the Persian Gulf between Qatar and Iran. The rig flares gas while I pump (MEG) down the well. Monoethylene glycol (MEG) was flown, using 747 cargo jets, from Australia to Doha Qatar and trucked to Ras Laffan where we loaded it into our tanks. We did this operation several times and it’s difficult to comprehend how much it cost?? !!! This was an LNG well and they were using the glycol as antifreeze. This was crazy, wild and strange???!!! — At Ras Laffan Industrial City.
The Iranian oil and gas fields were right next to us and sometimes their Navy would cruise by and check us out. We would wave hello.
